No steaks at Wetherspoons..?!
Steak Tuesday at the Spoons, but instead we get a round robin on the tables from management saying the group has an 'issue' with the supplier, and there will be no steaks for the foreseeable..!

It doesn't say why. A logistics problem due to the weather? If so, surely other pubs etc would be affected?

Wetherspoon's provenance rules state that all their steak etc comes directly from Britain or Ireland. Just a supply 'hiccup'? Or the Irish making things difficult for Tim due to his staunch Brexit leanings? Not enough info coming out of the business for us to know for sure...

NS,

You sound like you're one episode of Animal Magic away from becoming a vegetarian.

Try some horse, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

"we built our empire on horseback"

Is this some weird interpretation of history whereby the Mongolian and Turkic hordes were actually British?

We built our empire with ships.

You dont have to go to fat yankee doodah land to get hold of decent steak Sold0.

The butcher down the road from me does Argentinian and Uruguayan steaks. Naturally much better than anything produced in america.

Regarding NORMAL steaks... you know farmed COWS... I don't even bother anymore in this country.. always disappointed and compare to what I get in the US... so than god I get out to the US at least once a year...

The thought of eating something I just had a bet on and cheered home over the finishing line is like me eating a plate of Ian Bishop and roast spuds.... anyone that eats horse is no better than Frenchies and chinese... we built our empire on horseback ... we certainly never ate them ... well unless it was the siege of kabul etc...

Agree about horse. The thought isn't wonderful, but the taste is. What does whale taste like?

I think I'd rather eat a human being rather than a horse or a dog.... I mean I like Horses and Dogs... not so much human beings...

Best steak I've ever had was horse. It was amazing. Had whale last year in Iceland - I liked that too.

Coffee - that sounds like you didn't order it, which can't be right.

NS,

Agreed, had whale a few times in Norway a couple of years ago, lovely bit of food.

Claret50,

It's a shame we can't get it over here more easily, horses are just skinny cows so should be more common on menus.

Whale meat as well.... plenty of that around during the post war days... well at least we have some minimum of decorum nibbling on Shergar and Moby Dick rather than Lassie and Rin Tin Tin

Agent Scud.

I agree mate, my old Mum used to buy horse meat in the 40's as not many people could afford beef, it tasted good to me.

If Spoons did a horse steak I might actually go into one, it's a lovely bit of meat.
